Joanna's role in talent acquisition spans recruiting individuals to join B Capital as well as the firm's portfolio companies. She says it has been a dream to work at B Capital where the leaders believe in empowering millennials with vision.
1. What do you focus on at B Capital?
I am part of the talent acquisition team at B Capital, recruiting talented individuals to join the business across our functions from investments, platform to operations in Asia Pacific. Since January 2022, I took on additional responsibilities to support our portfolio companies in talent resources.
The role doesn’t stop there. We are proactively involved in the implementation processes, curating internship programs, diversifying our workforce, and developing a robust talent pipeline to keep us aligned to the current trends.
2. What attracted you to working at B Capital?
It has been a dream to work in a firm where they truly believe in empowering millennials with vision. Having been able to speak to the partners and stakeholders in B Capital, it excites me to see how fast the business has scaled within a span of 6 years!

3. If you weren’t in this career, what would you be doing?
Having travelled to over 20 countries, I would’ve set up an event planning business where I help businesses or individuals to curate a trip of their dreams! I would love to fulfil this vision with my husband!
4. What is most interesting or unique about working in venture capital?
The ability to hear first-hand news on the companies invested and how it could impact society one way or the other is unique about working in the VC world. Aside from the investments we make, the leaders hire talented individuals from different industries – technology, FMCG and gaming – where we cross pollinate and learn from one another.
5. What’s something many people may not know about you?
In the earlier part of my life, I travelled around Asia, did some humanitarian work and learnt how to speak basic Thai to communicate with the natives! My dream would be to travel around the globe and help the less fortunate.
